The Food Allergy Prevention Initiative

The Food Allergy Prevention Initiative is a project of FARE, Food Allergy Research and Education.

Vision: As a result of this initiative, we envision a world where every parent is provided with easy-to-understand, evidence-based information on food allergy prevention and is engaged in a shared decision-making discussion before their child is 4 months old. This leads to consistent, appropriate, and safe early allergen introduction resulting in a 50% overall reduction in the onset of food allergies in children under age 5 over the next 10 years.

Goal: To increase the awareness and adoption of food allergy prevention best practices by clinicians, patients, and caregivers in order to mitigate the increasing prevalence of food allergies in Americans.

The FARE Food Allergy Prevention Initiative, including its design, materials and approaches was developed in consultation with the FARE Food Allergy Prevention Advisory Committee. Members have included:
